Who Can Enter?
• Open to everyone (amateur and hobbyist photographers welcome).
• Each person can enter up to 5 photos (but only 1 photo per photographer can be selected).
What to Submit
• Horizontal (landscape format) photos only
• Must be taken in or about Western Canada
Themes encouraged:
• Seasonal scenes
• Events & holidays
• Landscapes or local life
Photo Requirements
• Minimum dimensions: 12” x 9” at 300 dpi (3600 x 2700 pixels or larger)
• Max file size:15 MB per photo
• No text, watermarks, logos, or timestamps on images
File Naming Format: [season]-[lastname]-[photo#]-[description].jpg
• Example:summer-johnson-3-calgary-stampede.jpg
• Original camera filenames (like IMG_1234) are not accepted
How to Enter
• Entry is 100% online (no paper submissions).
• Use the online entry form to upload photos.
Provide:
• Season
• Address/location of the photo
• Caption matching the filename
Judging & Prizes
• Judging occurs in late September.
• 13 winning photos selected:
• 12 months + 1 cover photo
Winners receive:
• Publicity in press releases
• Approx. 5,000 calendars distributed
• 10 free copies of the printed calendar
Winners notified by phone/email & posted on Zone-3’s website.

By entering, you grant Zone-3 a permanent, non-exclusive license to:
• Print, crop, and publish your images in the calendar and other Zone-3 materials.
• Photographers retain their personal rights.
• Zone-3 will not release your photos to third parties.
• Model releases are NOT required.
PERMANENT PHOTO LICENSE
The permanent, non-exclusive license shall be shown as executed on the date the photo was submitted.
WHEREAS, the “Photographer” named on this entry form has submitted up to five “Photographs” described on this form to the Zone-3) for possible use in Zone-3’s annual calendar, and for such other and further uses as Zone-3, in its sole discretion, deems appropriate or desirable, whether or not such Photographs are selected by Zone-3 for use in its calendar.
NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the foregoing, Zone-3 and Photographer agree as follows:
- The Photographer hereby grants Zone-3 a license to print, crop, enhance, enlarge, publish, circulate, use, and reproduce any Photograph submitted with this form, in whatever way or manner it, in its sole discretion, deems fit.
- The Photographer hereby expressly warrants that the Photographs were taken by Photographer and that Photographer has the authority to grant this license.
- Should Zone-3 select any of the Photographs for use in its Calendar, ten copies of said calendar shall be given by Zone-3 to the Photographer.
